The Beatles Project

Alan Yagi, a native of Livingston, CA,  has been a professional musician since the age of 14.

Yagi honed his keyboard-playing, arranging and orchestration "chops" while attending Merced College, having performed in that institution's Jazz Ensemble (piano) and Wind Ensemble (trumpet and flute). During that tenure he performed at several jazz festivals including the Vancouver Jazz Festival at the University of British Columbia and the UC Berkeley Jazz Festival. He earned his degree in Music.

He has performed with several Merced area legendary acts such as Jazz Celebration, Fast Forward, Hot Shot and long running band Donnie & the Wayrads (formerly Other Hands).

Alan has toured and recorded throughout the continental U.S. and now calls Modesto, CA his home.

In addition to English, Alan is fluent in Sign Language, Assyrian, Romanian and is presently learning Arabic. He's also been a martial artist for over 20 years and has trained alongside many law enforcement personnel. He's a past recipient of the "Outstanding Young Men of America" award for his work in community service and has also been honored with awards from the National Association of Jazz Educators.

Yagi has been involved with kids in education as a Technology Support Specialist for Turlock (CA) School Districts and while there, was part of the gang intervention team who identified and counseled possible and validated central valley gang members. After leaving Turlock, Alan decided to go back to school and entered UC Berkeley and CSU Sacramento, eventually earning his teaching credential and was subsequently hired as the Computers and Technology teacher at Ustach Middle School in Modesto CA.

Alan has always been a Beatles fan since one of his favorite sixth grade teachers, John Mitchell, had him listen to the album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - from then on, he was hooked and is now thrilled to be a part of The Beatles Project.
