The Beatles Project

Drummer Phillip Madayag is a Merced native whose musical talents have led him on a journey that has spanned almost every major city in the United States and parts of Europe and Japan.

Phillip found success early in his career as the young and upcoming full-time drummer for the East Los Angeles based Soul/R & B group “Tierra” whose chart topping single “Together” brought the group national acclaim. Television appearances on iconic musical television shows American Bandstand, Solid Gold, Soul Train and the Merv Griffin Show and concert performances in venues such as the Greek Theatre, Rose Bowl, Los Angeles Coliseum and the legendary Carnegie Hall were commonplace for Phillip while with Tierra and Phillip received an American Music Award with the group.

Altogether, Phillip has performed on over 25 albums as a professional studio musician covering the musical spectrum from The Spinners to cartoon theme songs like “Inspector Gadget.” His highest achievements in music are highlighted by FOUR Gold Records, with the most popular Gold being Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me” which features the unmistakable background vocals of the late American musical icon, Michael Jackson.

From humble beginnings to the very top of the popular music scene the world over, Phillip’s career in music has seen it all. Not bad for a once young drummer from a small town like Merced.

Phillip has always like the music of The Beatles and is happy to be a part of The Beatles Project.
